To login successfully through Desktop App for Jira, you need to follow the below steps

Step#1: To check before Login

  1. Ensure Internet Connectivity: Confirm you are connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

  2. Access to Internal Systems: If the Jira is hosted internally, connect to your company’s network and verify access through a browser.

  3. Proxy or Certificate Requirements: If the network uses a proxy or certificate authority, coordinate with your IT department to configure your device appropriately.

  4. VPN Configuration: For networks requiring VPN access, ensure you have the correct VPN setup by consulting with your IT administrator.

Step#2: Locate your Jira URL

Jira URL is the link you use in the browser to access your Jira instance

If you don't know what is your Jira URL ask your IT or Jira Admin


Step#2: Login using your credentials

Add your Jira Cloud URL and click on Login

Enter the email that you usually use to access the Jira Cloud Instance

In case you already have an API Token you can use it and click on Login, if not generate one by clicking on Generate Token

  1. Once you click on Generate Token you'll be taken to Manage Tokens page
  2. Click on the Create API Token button
  3. Give a name to that token (ex: DesktopAppForJira) and click on Create
  4. Copy the Token and save it in a place to be used later, and then paste it in the Token field in the Desktop App for Jira
  5. Click on Login

Congrats! Good to go & start using the app

Access Jira from the web, and look into the URL field, it is similar to the below examples:

If you didn't know whats your Jira DC URL ask your IT or Jira Admin

Enter the Username that you usually use to access the Jira DC Instance

In case you already have an PAT (Personal Access Token) Token you can use it and click on Login, if not generate one by clicking on Generate Token

  • Once you click on Generate Token you'll be taken to Personal  Access Token page

  • Click on the Create Token button

  • Give a name to that token (ex: DesktopAppForJira), disable Automatic expiry and click on Create

  • Copy the Token and save it in a place to be used later, and then paste it in the Token field in the Desktop App for Jira
  • Click on Login

If the feature still didn't work

If you're still not able to login after these steps, kindly click on *Not able to login!, click to send log file*  from Desktop App for Jira login screen, and please make sure that there is a file attached to be able to troubleshoot.
